wonder non-stop from Seoul.
Angkor Wat is believed to be the oldest and largest religious
structure in the world. Along with the Great Wall of China,
this temple is considered to be one of the top 5 engineering
wonders of the world.
Built by the ancient Khmer dynasty over 1,000 years ago,
the massive stone complex is about 1,500 meters x 1,300
meters and surrounded by a moat that is almost 200 meters
wide. What at first glance appears to be a colossal mass
of stone all on one level is in reality a series of elevated
towers, covered galleries, chambers, porches and courtyards
all on different levels and linked by stairways. Angkor
Wat was abandoned in 1431 after a devastating war with
Thailand. For the next 400 years, the jungle enveloped
the temple, hiding it from sight until re-discovered in
1860 by French missionaries.
Today, Angkor Wat has been restored to much of its old
glory and is located just a few miles
from the city of Siem Reap, Asiana's gateway to Cambodia!
We invite you to discover one of the Wonders of the
World. On Asiana
