On
November 21, 2002, the Chief Executive Board of the Star Alliance
in a meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, established March 1, 2003
as the official commencement date for Asiana Airlines' entry into
the Star Alliance, an elite association of the world's leading airlines.
Over the next few months, we will be realigning our schedules, systems
and programs to bring Asiana Airlines into sync with our new global
partners.
When
Asiana was founded in 1988, the airline had a number of aspirations.
One was to be the best airline in the world in the 21st Century.
As witnessed by Asiana's receipt of Air Transport World's 2001 Passenger
Service Award, we are well on our way towards that dream. Another
was to build a world-class, worldwide route network. While we have
made tremendous progress in placing the Asiana flag in cities all
over the globe, Asiana's entry into Star will soon fulfill that
goal, well beyond expectations.
Asiana is about to enter a most exciting era. Starting March 1,2003
you will be able to enjoy a whole new world of benefits. With more
than 700 airports in 124 countries worldwide, the Star Alliance
is the largest airline network in the world. So no matter where
you need to go, you'll be able to get there on Asiana and our Star
Alliance partners. And as an Asiana Club member, you will be able
to earn and redeem Asiana Club miles on all Star Alliance airline
flights, with all earned miles counting towards your elite status
as well. Aside from mileage benefits, you will also enjoy one stop
check in and ticketing, special worldwide privileges for Elite members
and many other global benefits and services that one would expect
from the world's best.
We look forward to fully introducing you to the world of Star Alliance
in the months to come. |
